Shawnda Jones  taught high school Spanish at Northeastern High School from 1993-1995 and then moved to the Noblesville High School Spanish Department from 1995-1998.  After staying home to raise her young children, Shawnda began volunteering to teach Spanish at her son's Kindergarten class.  She was amazed at how excited the kids were to learn Spanish!  Even more amazing was how well they spoke and remembered the vocabulary! In 2004, Shawnda founded Spanishgarten to accomodate the growing need to teach Spanish to young children in the area.

Shawnda Jones began her Spanish career at Shenandoah High School where she studied under her mentor and teacher, Aleida Hernandez, a Cuban refugee.  She later earned a B.A. in English and Spanish from Ball State University in 1993, and then a Master's Degree in Counseling from Indiana University in 2003.  She lives in Pendleton with her husband, Kent, and their two boys, Milan and Parker.
